Ignition part compatibility

I am looking for a replacment cdi boxes and ignition coil set for my 1986 125 hp force. I do know that if you have black cd's, you must use black ignition coils. Same for the blue ones. If my engine is set up for black without the multi-pin plugs, can it be swapped with the blue cd's and ignition coils without mult-pin plugs? Will the stator and trigger know the difference?

Stator and timer does not care about color, the blue supposed to be inprovement. I have seen black and blue mixed. you close to zip code 34142?

I am in northwest Indiana. Someone else on this forum said keep blue with blue and black with black. I am not to sure. I just bought a set of black boxes and coils off of e-bay. Hope this solves my problems! Thanks
