The Push to Choke was not working at the ignition switch on my boat/98 Yamaha C150, and traced it out to the ignition switch. Unfortunately, the Ignition switch is/ was potted, as I hacked it apart to fix the problem. I found the problem with a wafer not making contact, and now it works. I butchered the switch and would like to replace it. However trying to find even an OEM switch is not easy, and if I do, we're talking $150+. I would like to go aftermarket [$30] and found one at West Marine with 6 contacts. I have 8 wires going to my OEM now, and trying to figure if I can use the WM 6 lead.
I have the shop manual for this motor, but it does not show the switch. Can someone help me figure out what some of these wires do, as some might be redundant, and I might be able to use a 6 lug switch. Here are the wires that I do know.
Red = 12v+
[2] Black = Gnd, and one is to the dead man switch
Brown = Starter
Blue = Choke
[2] Yellow = ? and one is going to the alarm/buzzer
White = other lead to dead man switch
Can I join the 2 black together on one lug?
What is the second Yellow wire?
The one Yellow is going to the alarm with a pink wire which is the 2 thermo [overheat] switches at the motor when shorted to gnd sounds the alarm.
