Ignition upgrade options

Hello,

I have a 1972 85hp outboard. Its outrageous to pay 65$ for a single breaker point. Are their any upgrade options for this motor?

I seem to remember some type of conversion, I don't think they were very successful.
Some one will come along and offer some advice on the subject. How often do you have to replace the points, I don't think I ever had to replace any on the engines that I have had.

My question would be, what's wrong with the points ?? They are very low amperage and hardly ever burn. I just used to clean up and reset.
