I had an unusual thing happen 2 weeks ago with my '99 Johnson 130 Oceanpro outboard. Two of the ignition wires
burned off or otherwise broke apart from the spark plug boot. THis was on the two top cylinders (1 & 2?) on opposite sides of the block.
I don't know when they broke, I only noticed during a weekly startup when the engine was idling really rough and I heard some strange clicking sound from the engine. It was one of the broken wires arcing on the cylinder head cover.
The wires were original so I'm guessing they broke due to old age. I've replaced them all. Should I be concerned that something else
may be going on? Yesterday I had the boat out for about an hour, running WOT for about 3/4 of that time. The last mile on the way home the engine dropped out of WOT and and refused to go much faster than planing speed. The bogging down was reported in another post awhile ago and someone then said it might be ignition system related. I don't know if the two events are related at all, but there seems to be a connection.
Any advice would be appreciated!
