I'm a new boat owner

Hey every one as the title says I'm a new boat owner. Just bought a 1988 Sunbird Corsair 17ft Bowrider 4.3L I/O Motor. Reading around this place I can tell not many people like them becuase its entry level but hey I am entry level and it was only 800 bucks so it works for me for now anyway


Just a few questions. Does anyone know where I can find the manual online for this boat considering the company is out of business now. I alo need to know what kind of oil this thing needs and how many gallons is the fuel tank


Also does this thing have a live box I noticed up in the passanger side dash it has an opening with a decent size tub wit a drain in the tub just curious i tis is a live box or something else.


This is the first boat so I'm just trying to get to know the boating world an about boats. Thanks for any help you can give me

Welcome to iboats!

Your boat is just as important as a 10 rowboat or a high end yacht! Do not ever feel badly about the brand of boat and no one will snub you here for that...... that's a promise.

Yes your first boat is always exciting! Will you ever find a manual for it? DOUBTFUL but, it is not important. The important manual to you will be the manual for the engine and outdrive.

Owner's manuals usually talk safety and tell you what the buoys mean out in the water.

I will tell you my only concerns...... first take a boater safety course, second jump right up on to the maintenance of the boat and trailer so you can enjoy the season..... and last since your boat is an 88 check the hull and decking out for soft spots.
