I have an 84 merc, and I just managed to get the lower unit off, but he prop is'nt giving at all. It's a S.S. prop, so I really didn'nt want to scew it up((((but))))) Can anyone give me any special methods they may have. This is a complete restroration, and I'm way over the limit as it. I have a puller and two blocks braced under each fin, but It will not bouge?...

Ayuh,... It sounds like it was installed, without Grease on the shaft, 'n now it's Seized...

You can try penertrating oils, 'n heat...
Otherwise it comes down to doing as little Damage as ya can, cutting it off...
Personally, I try to destroy the prop, rather than the propshaft...

Take lower unite off... place propeller between 4x4 or 2.4 wood ... get a brass punch and punch shaft off.

NO hammering necessary. Loosen the prop nut a bit and reinstall the lock tab/cotter pin. Run the boat making many shifts from forward to reverse. The forward and reverse thrusting may break it loose. Reassemble with grease on the splines.
