I'm buying a boat!

Well, I've been looking at boats for weeks. I've looked at boats ranging from 15' to 20', fiberglass, aluminum, 4 stroke, 2 stroke, center console, side console and everything else! I decided I really wanted an all fiberglass, center console boat between 15 and 17 feet. The problem was, in boats that fit that criteria, there was pretty much no storage at all. Well, I found myself a 15' CC that has a ton of storage!

It's a 2002 Key West with a 50hp Yamaha 2 stroke. It's got lots of storage and rod holders, plus a Bass seat up front with a saltwater series trolling motor. It's pretty much perfect - like brand new - as it has been used very little and always garaged. It's eve sitting on an aluminum trailer. I think this will be a great boat for me and my 2 small kids to go out fishing on the local lakes. Plus, I really think it will do the trick for the occassional 2-guy stiper excursion in the river and even some flounder fishing 1/2 mile out on a nice day.

I couldn't be happier. I'm getting the boat for a great price and I think it will last me until my kids are older and are ready for more serious fishing. My offer was accepted yesterday (consignment boat) but the owner is away on vacation. The salesman is hoping we can take care of everything via fax today so I can get the boat home. I hope so, since I'm leaving for a week vacation tomorrow and I'll feel a lot better knowing the boat is in my garage. If not I'll just pick it up when I get home.

Just thought I'd share my excitement!

Thanks Ziggy! I won't need the boat where I'm going on vacation. I'll be using the kayaks a lot - small watersheds, the Saco river in ME... places like that. I'll be psyched to use the boat when I get home though!

safe boating course, kids in life jackets. check the state law on how old they have to be to take them off.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I'm happy as a lark ;)

I want my kids to grow up on boats like I did. I have so many good memories of being out on the lake with my family.

Re: I'm buying a boat!

Well, I took the family tonight to see the boat and I put my deposit down on it. I had the guy start the motor and raise the bimini top. Man, that motor purred like a kitten! I can't wait to get this thing in the water. This is the first thing I've ever bought used that was so mint, so close to new - I feel really good about it. I usually have a thing about buying used. I always buy new cars, RV's, motorcycles... etc... This used boat purchase has me psyched!

Here she is!

Here she is!

Well, I brought my new boat home yesterday! Tomorrow night I'll be heading out with my brother to the Merrimac river in Salisbury Mass to go after some blues and stripers... I can't wait!

I removed the bimini top, bass seat and trolling motor and shot a few pics - here she is:

Re: I'm buying a boat!

Nice looking boat. When i was in Key Largo earlier this summer I rented an 18' Key Largo (same as the Key West), because I didn't bring my boat all the way down from PA. It was a nice boat, very similar looking to yours, just a little bit larger. It was great for fishing, and a blast to drive. Have Fun!
