going to gluvit the seams and rivets on the inside of the hull and wonder if i can use any leftover on a plywood decking im planning to build is gluvit ok to use on the plywood Thanx in advance Larry

I'm not positive, but I wouldn't think it's the best. It's redeeming quality is that it stays flexible for the aluminum seams. I would think you would be better off with an epoxy resin that sets up hard on the decking. I use West Systems for those applications.

If the rivets are leaking it is best to rebuck them, think of a rivet as a bolt, if they are leaking they are loose and need to be retightened, you wouldn't just caulk a loose bolt .

All you need is 2 steel hammers and a buddy.

YES. Gluvit will work fine on plywood. Here is a link to the Marine Tex Gluvit page and you will see it has multiple uses http://www.marinetex.com/gluvit.html

It is best to re-buck any rivets that are in need to be tightened and replace any bad ones. Just as a word of advice...... some sections/seams may need a 2nd coat of gluvit.

Please be advised that Gluvit is not UV stable so any sunlight exposed areas need to be painted. That does not apply for gluvit applied under the hull on the outside.

Coming from experience, if there are loose rivitse look for the cause first. You could have a fractured cross member, in this case even if ou glovit the rivet the hull will shift and the gluvit will eventuall lose its bond. The best repair for a rivit is to replace it. It is not that dificult to do yourself, they even sell boat rivit kits such as "Bullfrog aluminum boat rivet repair kit". And if you find a fractured crossmember a aluminum welder can help you other wise the problem will eventually come around again. As far as putting glovit on wood i have no idea. What would be the purpose of using it on the wood?

so VT if I gluvit the out side I don't need to paint? if thats the case i will use the gluvit inside and out , I dont want to have to paint the outside of the boat. uv 's won't affect the outside hull? thanx for your help

Some boater's use it as a barrier coat on the bottom of the hull to create a surface that is tougher for abrasion.

Yes you can dab gluit on the rivets on the outside (along with the inside) and I would still paint.
