Not my hair, what I have is almost white but my outboard. A grey and red Mariner 15M 15 hp. My black beauties with blue stripes and bands will have to go to pay for it.. From my research I guessing with a serial # of 684-CS -0248xx 1991 ? The guy selling thought 1994..?

Kind of cute, when he sold it , it was in a garbage can. When I picked it up today, I saw that the the bottom of the fine was held on by riveted plates. When my welding improves, I'll have to TIG it. .I did check the compression and it was good, in the teens . It started easily but even warm Mercs start easily. It was only 2/3s of the going price and I was first of four guys.

Would Mercury dealers have spray cans of Mariner grey?

I would say more 80s than 90s. That is a Yamaha built mariner dealership should have paint.

I'm with Scott and I'm coming up with:

15CM 684-023806 to 684-032058 1983

Thanks . So it's a definitely a Yamaha and not a Tohatsu .That's very handy to know, both for parts and manuals. Any idea what model of Yamaha ? Yamahas are popular around here, considered the first choice , but come at a premium . The seller with his new 14' tinny wanted electric start, charging,4 stroke, and EFI so made do with a Mercury 15 hp. For less money he could have gotten a Tohatsu.20hp.

The laugh is on me though, here I thought I was getting a motor only 25 years old, almost new in my books, instead it's only a little newer than the mid-70s Mercs I have been working on. At this rate I'll have to join an Old Outboard Collectors club, chuckle.
