Every time I take my boat our (2006 Chaparral 246 SSI) and I fire it up for the first time, as soon as I put it in reverse and accelerate, it almost dies. Does this for first minute of so. Being that it is fuel injected, do they still need to warm up some before you take off ?

Often wondered why people accelerate in reverse. I think boats in general don't do well in reverse at speed.

most likely your lower shift cable needs replacement

however yes, most motors need a minute to warm up.

Reverse or forward it does this, does a bog down and then goes. After about a minute at idle, then its goes normal.

Agree with the comments . . . Fuel injected engine will be running rich for the first few minutes as it warms up, and the IAC valve will be in transition as mentioned. Just make sure your spark arrestor is clean and your spark plugs are in good condition.

You should certainly be able to shift into gear after about a minute, but accelerate may not be 100% until the engine has run a bit longer and the fuel injection 'pulse time' has gone down a bit.

Fuel injected or not, the quickest way to 'wear out' an engine is to load it up cold. The engine still needs a few minutes to warm, or you get accelerated cylinder/pistons wear. You should also wait a little until the oil warms, so it's circulating properly.
