I have been lurking this forum for a while. I am in the market for an Islander 22 (or a scarce 26)
I am only interested in a boat in excellent condition , preferably one that has been gone through from bow to stern by an anal retentive owner:).
I am willing to pay the worth of a vesel in such condition.
I will be in the Great Lakes area in about a week and hope to locate a boat to take home.
So if you have an Islander that fits the bill contact me and I will get back to you.
thanks for your consideration.

duplicates of one model qualifies as ADVANCED, TERMINAL* MBS.

*at least for me, if i told the Admiral i'd bought an identical boat to one i already have, it might be terminal

ATMBS --- hmmm that's ok to have!!! Some of us suffer from SATMBS - Significantly Advanced Terminal Multiple Boat Syndrome (+4 or more Starcrafts)...

1 Starcraft = Welcome to club
2 Starcrafts = MBS
3 Starcrafts = ATMBS
4+ Starcrafts = SATMBS!

BI ---- that's a mighty fine lookin' Islander you have!!! Good luck on your quest! Keep us posted on your find when you do!

Re: Im in the market for an islander

Under the heading:Watch out what you ask for... and next thing I know I am back in Michigan tomorrow.
Will be looking at two different Starcraft..
I drove 1023 miles today, 600 mi yesterday, in order to get to the Wolverine State by tomorrow.

I am truly excited, have cash burning a hole jn my pocket...
finally sold another unwanted boat from the stable this weekend and jumped in the truck and headed East...

If all goes as planned, the one tin boat I pick will have a new home on Beaver Island and the '76 Islander that is on the island now, Im towing back and is headed to the Baja and the Sea of Cortez, via California, where it will spend many wonderful years as an desert island explorer and, of course, will be lovingly stored indoors, on my buddy's property in La Paz, when not in use....

I am only a few years from retirement and I am getting all my ducks in a row for my true passion of boating/fishing. The Beaver Islands in the summer and camping/ boating the Baja in the winter.
This plan has been decades in the making... and I finally have found what I consider the perfect boat... The Starcraft Islander...

keep ya posted...

Good luck with the search for the 26, saw one on ebay last summer in great shape for 3,000. I almost went for it but one problem, it had that white leg........oh no.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought an Islander 26.
She is a beauty. It was restored and most everything is new. The hull was gutted, repainted inside and out, new King Starboard interior, decks, transom, cuddy cabin, bulkhead, etc. Custom work with new compartments, each boxed and set up with a drain system that is designed not to retain bildge water and ruin the new foam.
New engine/ transom mount, gimbal bearing, rebuilt outdrive, etc. The boat was done right.
I found that Anal Retentive Owner who needed to sell his baby!
He restored the trailer, too, new paint, rollers, tires, etc.
It isnt finished as it needs a paint coat topside, and bottom paint , as it will be setting all season at Beaver Island.
Also, I'm going to install trim tabs, chartplotter, rod holder, all the FUN stuff.
I feel fortunate that I was able to locate this boat, tow in up to Beaver Island, pick up my 1976 Islander, tow it home to California (5,985 miles RT) all in just ten days.
I am looking forward to getting to work on the 22 footer, it will be getting a re-do this winter, paint, new decks, etc before I drag it to its new home in Baja this fall...
Thanks to all of you who helped me locate this beauty with your advice and TM's.

Hey, glad you came back for an update and nice score! Have you got some photos of her all finished up?

We'd love to following along on your 22 footer project so be sure and post up a new thread when you get going with that project.

Cheers and congrats!:D

Well done on a successful road trip. Seems those 26ers are few and far between.

Here are a few more pictures,
I am looking forward to the Islander project, have watched Jasoutide videos for a while now.
I will be starting the 22 islander after I finish up an old 1960 Chris Craft Capri that has been setting in my storage for 10 years.
It is almost done with the refurbishing(not a total restoration), lots of labor of love units going into that one.

I have the blaster and walnuts all ready........
