im lost

I was told the reason my key will not turn off the motor is that it was not grounding. Im lost on were things should be grounding.. I am needing to know were to look and how to do this. Any and all help is appreciated.

It would be helpful if we knew what engine you are talking about, what year, whether the key switch is located on the console or on the control box, and whether or not you have a kill switch lanyard. If you do, pull the lanyard and see if the engine dies. If not, the problem is between the control box and the engine. If it dies when the lanyard is pulled, you need to look at the ignition switch.

It is a '76 thunderbolt 40 hp. The key is in the throttle assembly. I have installed a new key switch and it did not work as well.

not grounding out

Anyone know what could not be grounding out on the switch or motor. I will appreciate any and alll suggestions.
