I wouldn't have thought it would have happened to me. It was the first time out on the boat this year. We were so excited to go. We stowed all the gear loaded up and took off for the lake. When we arrived we took off the cover, put in the plug, and got ready to launch. But, there weren't any keys. I left the keys home, 75 miles away. What a disappointment. We did eventually get out on the lake, however. I called my BIL, and he went to my house and got the keys and he and 2 of his kids and wife came and rescued us. We had a good outing after all, even if we were a little crowded. The boat worked fine, and my new depth-finder seemed to work right. Another good day on the boat. :D

Chalk it down as another experience and a good rescue by the BIL. Maybe keep a spare key somewhere on the boat.

After doing that myself I put the key to the trailer hitchlock on the same ring as the boat key. Works just fine-I can't go anywhere with the boat without the keys now!

After doing that, I put the keys together and leave them in the armrest of the truck.

Glad the BIL saved the day.

After doing the same thing, I now keep a boat key on the ring with the car keys. Leave the other one in the boat. Works for me

Keep one in the garage and one in the JEEP. Never forget to use the JEEP to haul the boat, so keys are always with me. ;) Glad your day ended well.

I keep the boat key in the ignition of the boat, so I cannot forget it. I never heard of one boat that was stolen by driving it off the trailer. :D

In addition, I never heard of a "tow-away" boat thief that wouldn't steal a boat because it didn't have the key in it, while it was on the trailer. :p

Re: I'm not immune

It was my first time out this season. I'm usually the one saying I have keys all over the place ie I have truck keys on the boat and boat keys on the truck and keys in my wallet and I got my nose rubbed in it this time. The wife laughed. Mark

I do the same as Chris1956 does, last boat I had Key had been in the ignition so long I couldn't remove the Key from the ignition.
