I had just gotten a new quicksilver control box but not yet hooked it up. I had started my 1997 120 HP Force Outboard engine for the first time in a few months the other day. When i did it was running a little slugish which i figured was from the gas, so i replaced the gas and it was running better but when i went to give it some gas i gave it a little bit and it pretty much went to full throttle on its own and wouldn't stop when i shut off the key. after about 45 seconds to a minute it pretty much shuts off on it own after that. thats with both of the control cables disconected and moving the throttle by hand. If anyone has any suggestions i could really use the help.

I'd say the first place to start would be to check the throttle linkage that connect the carbs to be sure that the linkage isn't hanging up and sticking.

the throttle linkage doesn't stick, i was back by the engine and playing with the throttle by hand with all the control cables disconnected. Once the engine hits a certain amount of RPM's it just max's out on its own, and won't shut off even when the key is turned off. So im not sure what the next step would be.
