I took my new 08' Sea Pro 206 out on its first fishing trip with my buddy. Had some fun later in the day, but in the morning at about 7am, the swells were kinda big and I got sea sick:( We were close to the La Jolla kelp beds, about one mile west of the kelps. I didn't even last 10 minutes out there and got sick. I was so pissed off. We ended up going back to the bay for about an hour then tried again. As soon as we stopped out in the ocean I began to feel the oncoming of sea sickness again. I even took Bonine right before we launched the boat.

I never use to get sea sick when I was a kid and now as a 32 year old adult, I do.. This sucks!!!! I pretty much purchased an expensive bay boat now that I look at it.

Funny thing was, it was real choppy in the bay and I was fine, but my buddy started getting sick in the bay with the choppyness lmao! It was when we get the long up and down motion of the ocean is when I become sick:(

Another thing is, when we were plowing through the rough ocean up and down at 30 mph, I was having a blast and my buddy was getting sick lmao. It was when we would stop in the middle of the ocean he would have the last laugh at me.

Try Transderm Scapolomine patches. You'll be drinking beer and eating steak while you are out their. They are perscription and not cheap, but they made an old tar out of me.

Hmmmm, I heard those are pretty strong patches. Can sometimes cause symptoms to be worse. Then again, so can all the other cures out there. I was thinking of that drug named Dramzine?? Not Dramamine, that stuff makes me feel like I'm drunk.

Sea legs are developed by being at sea without drugs. Gut it out and you will be a seafarer before you realize it.

I agree 100%. That's what my plan was "go out more!!!". I developed my sealegs 25 years ago, but then got my land lover legs back after my uncle sold his boat when he retired from being a Captain/Fisherman, which was about 15 years ago.

When your out blasting through the waves you are not thinking of being sick. There's to much going on. When your just idling along your senses start testing the world around you. Keep busy and try not to look down to much. AND RELAX.

If you had your "legs" once you'll have them again, and ENJOY that boat..

I've heard ginger works. My Dad always kept a jar of it (the spice) on board his charter boat. Tasted like dirt (I'm told), but worked fast.
I don't have first hand knowledge of this cause I don't get sick but I've seen it work. I'd guess ginger snaps or ginger ale would work but not as fast.
My $0.02.
