I'm trying to locate serial #

on the cylinderhead is a silver disc with a series of numbers could it be here, I checked on transom bracket but it wasn't there. where else would it be. I want to buy a new rectifier. The old one has 3 wires.2 yellows and 1 red. Any help would be appreciated.

yes it has tilt and trim also

We're pretty sure it's not a 4 hp and it's not a water cooled rectifier. What motor do you have (V4 crossflow etc)? What's the numbers on the plug you found?

Yep, that's a 1987 20" 88 special. A V4 crossflow. You can use the 582399 (ss to 583408 I believe) rectifier as long as you're still using the 6 amp stator that came on the motor.
