i'm wondering, what gph on the 18 evirude get at cruising and and WOT?

i know i keep asking about my 18, but i want to know my boat, and more about my outboard before i take it out. how long will a 5 gal. tank last? i know it depends on how hard i push the motor, but i would like a rough estimate. thanks

They are quite economical, 4 hours wouldnt surpise me. That is 4 hours of running close to WOT, and that will normally cover more that a whole days fishing and boating. When I had my 73 20 HP I never recall using more than one 6 gal tank in one day, I think I never used one up in a day in fact.

thats pretty good!! i didnt think it would be that good. that should be pretty cheap on gas then. im wondering what is the fuel/oil ratio? and can i use 30sae oil instead of 2 cycle oil? i was told that would be ok.

You were told wrong on the oil. Use only marine grade TCW-3 at 50:1.

SAE 30 could be used in some '50s/'60s engines as a last resort. Why on God's green earth you'd plan to do it defies imagination!

mouseboat, rule of thumb in estimating WOT fuel consumption for OB's is HPx0.1=gph. In your case divide 5 gal. by 1.8 gph= 2.8 hrs @ WOT. This can vary a little and does not apply to 4S and 2S DI motors. Backing off WOT to ~ 70% reduces consumption a lot and could get you in the 4 hr range.

Another way to figure approximate fuel useage is to move the decimal point one position left in the HP rating. 18 HP = 1.8 GPH @ WOT. Gets close enough.
