If you have the Factory Service Manual (www.outboardbooks.com) and basic tools it is fairly easy. If you try it without the manual you are at risk of getting into a world of confusion.

The main trick to know is to tie a long string on the electric shift cables BEFORE you pull them through the midsection. Leave the string there to pull the cables back up through the midsection when you put it back together.

Thanks guys! I will not touch it before i get the books on it. I work on motorcycles and cars quiet often. I will use the strings too, I always take advise from engineers.... I have to get a proper control box on her too. Its and electramatic and my swith was missing out of the control box. I heard you can use the evinrude push button control box which happens to be more affordable. I hope this is true.
