Impellar housing face seal

I will be replacing my impellar as part of my winterizing maintenance this year. I purchased the Sierra kit #18-3214 and I realized that it does not contain the housing face seal or setting tool. Do I need to order this in addition to the kit or can I re-use the face seal upon installation. I am sure some of you guys have run into this before and any advice would be appreciated. The drive is a 1997 Alpha 1, Gen II and this will be my first time replacing an impellar. I am pretty handy and have reviewed the manual. Seems pretty straitforward, except for this one issue.

Go to your local dealer and order the face seal kit. PN 816575A2, about 9 bucks. It includes the face seal and tool.

Thanks Don......I figured as much, why take a chance on a cheap part. It just annoys me that vendors sell impellar service kits that do not include all of the parts you need!!!!!!

Get OEM kits, and you won't have all the problems that the cheaper, almost fit, aftermarket stuff has.

do you have the guide pins to properly align the pump housing on the lower unit as well?

From what I understand my drive is the updated style without the pins. We shall see in the coming weeks once I winterize if I should have got them as well. We are still having some warm weather in my neck of the woods so Winterization may still be a few weeks away.

rodbolt is referring to the 2 pins you put in place of the housing bolts to keep the gaskets, plate, and housing lined up while installing the housing onto the new impeller.
A couple of metric bolts with the heads cut off works perfect.
