Where does the hose from the impeller housing go ?<br />Mine is dry rotted and needs changing !

The hose ie impeller housing vent hose fits into a grommet on the plate of the upper gear housing

Yep that is the little vent hose that lets the impeller self prime.

Lou , does the hose just sit in the grommet ? None of the service manuals go into any detail

I did the impeller the spring before last and I can't remember for sure if the hose sat in the grommet or the end of the hose was specially shaped to keep it in the hole in the upper gearcase. My boat is still in the water, otherwise I could take off the cover and check. <br />---Just looked in my OMC shop manual, looks like the end of the hose had a nub molded into it to keep it in the hole.
