I am ordering spare impelors for a 4hp and 9.9 yam, and a 55 suz just to have on hand for end of season change. Have never changed one before and I see they come with or without a set of gaskets. Much more $$ with the gaskets. Is a gasket change every season the way to go or is just changing the impellor ok. Also, Iboats sells a generic brand, is that ok or stick with the name brand replacement parts??

Re: impeller change

I replace with the Yamaha kit as it comes with the wear plate and cup also, and not but a few $$s more, at least it was for my 99C40

Re: impeller change

Probably better to go with the genuine Yamaha parts, gaskets and all. You could get into the job and damage a gasket. The entire kit with everything included for my 90HP Yamaha was about $50, lots cheaper than an overheated powerhead! Better to do it right when you do it!
