I started the boat up this afternoon after changing oil and noticed no water coming out of exhaust and temp on motor was getting hot quick. after reading this forum came to the conclusion that my Impeller was the first thing to check since i had not changed during the first 3 years I have owned the boat:facepalm:. So I bought the water pump kit and droped the lower unit (Im a newbie first time ever doing this) and pull off the pump housing and pieces of impeller are everywhere, most of the pieces are stuck in the water intake were you put ear muffs on. I got all the pieces I could see out and put new pump kit back on Per Intructions From Don's STICKY. Every thing is working good water is flowing and temp is good.

My question is should I be looking for pieces of the old impeller in other places? I want to make sure that it is not clogging up other areas of the boat. I've read a little about how backflushing can help, how is this done? And my pump kit came with 4 o-rings that are about 2 1/2" I never saw these when I took off old pump/impeller and I did not see them on Don's STICKY instructions. I sure do hope I dont have to take apart again.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... In yer motor, the T-stat is where to Look 1st,...

While yer doin' it, back-flush the 1" hose coming from the transom.... Best done with the lower/ pump off...

The heat exchanger for the power steering will catch them also. Very important to get them ALL they can get stuck everywhere and mess up water flow.
