I have a Force 120 - and the Impeller only lasts about a season. Is this normal or is
should it last much longer - I hear of motors going thru several years of boating without
changing an impeller. It seems that the bottom of the impeller is the only place I can see that
is worn out. Or is this a Force anomally?

Thanks!

Re: Impeller life

That's pretty severe wear, but it could happen depending on use. If you operate the motor in a sandy area, for example, you could be drawing sand up into the impeller. That will destroy an impeller quickly.

You might also check the wearplate under the impeller. It may need replacing or cleaning/polishing. If there is any residue from an old impeller, for example, the abrasion can destroy the new one.

The recommendation is 100 Hrs, or 3 years.Unless there is abnormal wear.

My impeller lasted 10 years, I'm gonna have it replaced every 2 years from now on, I have a 92/120 hp Force, I guess preventive maintenance is the Key!
