merc 175 XR2 Sportjet

I have no hole shot power and can't get it above 35 mph. however the engine appears to be running and sounding great. could it be an impeller pitch issue?

Check wear ring or impeller for damage?

Much more likely a wear ring and impeller tolerance issue. That is, if all is well compression wise and engine health.
