The impeller on this old boy needs replacement. Because it has the electric shift, the wires from around the power head have to be pulled down through the shaft. That sounds scary to me. Any suggestions on how to make pulling the wires easier. How difficult is it to get it started? I assume I have to separate the knife junctions, but will they fit in the little conduit tubes easily, or should they be cut off and then reattached when done? Lastly, I assume the impeller is bad, because no water comes from the P hole. Can I just replace the impeller, or should I replace the cap also. What should I look for before deciding the replace the cap?

Thanks!!

If you think the job is difficult you are already beat.-----It is easy.------You seperate the knife junctions and attach someting to help you pull the wires back up on assembly.----Some grease / oil on that cable makes it easier.

There is a good chance the hub has spun in the impeller. We had a lot of that problem back in the day. My advice to you is don't order parts until you take a look at it. If it still has the old aluminum pump housing, order a complete water pump kit, which will update it to the plastic pump with stainless steel liners. Yes, this is one place where plastic is better. Much better. If it already has the new style pump, all you need is a new impeller.

BTW, don't even think of cutting that wire. Repairing it is next to impossible.

Never done an electric but think of it thisway, the job was designed to be done every few years so it won't be that hard to do.
