I replaced the empeller and put new gaskets for water pump..
My question is When i put the upper an lower back together
I was under the impresion i had gotten most of the lube out.
but when i stuck the top unit back on the bottom some lube seemed to come out
This sounds dirty. anyway is this normal for a bit of lube to leak?

Re: impeller replacement question

Well. Gear lube is very thick and if you gravity drain it you'll certainly have some extra. When you put the 2 halves back together did you remember to pick out the old, and install a new quad ring?

Re: impeller replacement question

If the drive was installed on the boat. The quad ring is a very small rubber seal that sits on the lower half on the right side of it. They are typically orange, and can stick in the lower or stick to the upper if they've been in there a while. The upper and lowers share a common fill cavity, the quad ring fills that cavity. Downlaod the manual from the adults only section and have a read at it.

Read my first post very very carefully, then quote where I said to "pick out the lube"

You mis-read something.
