impeller shreaded where do i look for blockage

HI guys it has been awhile here we go 454s BRAVO IIIs.changed both impellers housing oring and impeller. port side cool to the touch strbrd is hot when i took off the impeller housing ,impeller was shreaded has to be a blockage some where any Ideas.also how do i back flush the engine.
don s or rodbolt advice would be appreciated.

You remove the water hose that attaches to the thermostat housing, coming from the raw water pump. You also remove the outlet hose from the pump. Then you spray water (good pressure from a garden hose required) in the end by the thermostat. Any pieces "should" come out the end you took off the pump. Also look in the thermostat housing itself. Pieces of impeller like to get stuck in there. Also if you have an oil cooler, fuel cooler, and power steering cooler, they are all places that impeller pieces can get lodged.

As far as how you shredded a brand new impeller, well, you ran it without water somehow.
You either didn't have it in the water, or the muffs weren't hooked up correctly, or you have blocked water pickup holes in your drive.
