"Easy"?? Depends on what you consider easy. There is only one way--remove the lower unit and put in a new pump. I suggest looking at if before ordering parts. If it still has the old aluminum pump housing, put in a complete water pump kit which includes the new plastic housing with stainless steel liners. If it already has the plastic housing, all you need is an impeller.

Hints: Tie something onto the shift wires before lowering the lower unit. You need that to fish the wires back up through when reinstalling. Also look for the plastic guide tubes that have probably worked their way up the water tubes. You stick them in the pump housing to guide the water tubes into the seals when reinstalling.

EDIT: Another hint--there is a hidden bolt above the trim tab.

before i go too deep here. There is water spitting out of the exhaust releif holes, in the lake and on the hose. But last time we were out the alarm sounded and wouldnt shut off unless key was off. I didnt run it at all while alarm was sounding, but there was still water spitting out the holes, doesnt that mean water is circulating? is there something else i should check for?
