I'm looking for a newer boat, preferably one that doesn't need the bilge pump running every half hour, and the deals seem to be better in Washington than in BC (based on Craigslist).
Do any of my Canadian brethren know what is involved in getting a boat into Canada?
I'm looking for an 18-20 foot aluminum hull fishing boat. Prefer an outboard. Want a bowrider. Would like a 4 stroke but I think that would be out of my price range.
I've found one decent Hewescraft for about $8,500, and a Tracker for about $6K, both in the Seattle area.
Before I go too far on this path, I want to make sure I know how to get it across the border.
I do know I need the boat and trailer listed separate on the bill of sale (or both branches of the Gov't will try to tax the full price) but not sure what else is important.
I did a search on buying a boat first and just read the highlights of a 24 page horror story that doesn't make me feel any better
And, if anyone wants a 1997 Crestliner with a 90hp for $5,300, check out this ad

Just don't send the guy any money. I plan to string him along for as long as possible asking as many questions as I can before calling him many and various names.
