I am wanting to import an American Sports Cruiser into the UK, however I have to overcome the hurdles of European law to do so.
Is there, or does anyone know of a Company in the USA who carry out RCD (Recreational Craft Directive) and CE verification services prior to shipping the boat to the UK.
Any help that you good people could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Keith64

Re: Importing to UK

There's a company that advertises in Motor Boats Monthly that sells imported sports boats from Florida. They look after the certification. I've also read some artices in this mag about this topic. It might be worth looking at their back issues listing for any articles. I've a feeling you can get an info pack from an organisation in the UK on getting a certificate retrospectively. I remember thinking it wasn't a big deal after reading about it.

There has also been some previous threads here on this. Try a search. I posted before about trailers from the US. Most aren't legal to use on UK roads.

Also try a search on the ybw.com forum's for importing info.

Sorry this info is a bit vague.

Good luck.

Do a search on these forums within this same topic area. A number of people have discussed this and related issues.
