OYE!!! where do I begin? ok, first the drive, it's a 1991 DP-A, the suspension fork is badly pitted but a mechanic assured me that it's strong enough to be used. the paint was shot, so i had it soda blasted and have the paint system (all mil-spec) for constant submersion use.
first, is there a way to get the pivot tube and all that stuff out without using special tools so that i can paint it and the drive seperately?
2nd, the Y-Pipe ends are pretty shot, so i was hoping to replace it but i'm not sure if i can get it off with the bellhouseing still on (the old engine is out, it blew the first time on the water 3 years ago, long story). is this possible or is it possible to cut it down and just use fiberglass elbows and silicon bellows?
OR (regarding the Y-Pipe) will any volvo penta y-pipe mate to that transome shield? meaning; can i buy one that would go to a later model and then just figure out how to connect up the manifolds to the exhaust on my own? that would open up a new realm of possibilities for manifold choice..
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!
