I have a Hawkeye depth sounder and want to install a in hull transducer. I looked for a mounting place and cannot find a surface that is level inside the hull. Can I mount it on the side of the v where there is a slight angle or does it need to face straight down.

Since no one else is responding... I'm no expert, but as straight down as possible would be best. My FourWinns has a built in transducer that was installed at the shallowest part of the V hull but it is still at a slight angle, and works fine.

The transducer must be mounted perpendicular to the bottom.

Take a plastic cup and cut it the bottom to form a wedge shape to suit the bottom of the hull yet provide a flat surface at the top of the cup. Fill the cup with epoxy and embed the transducer into the top of the epoxy. When dry cut and remove the plastic cup and your done.

Put the transducer in and it works great. I put it in the rear of the boat. I opened up the throttle and was able to see the depth at 50+mph.

I know this is an old post, but did you mount yours on the side of the V or straight down in the middle

thanks
