in hull transducer, oil ok?

I have made my pipe resovoir and glassed it to the hull so i can now fix the transducer into the pipe and fill with oil,
my question: ........is it ok for the oil to lay on and be in permanent direct contact with the GRP hull or should I have made a protective skin over the hull before fitting the pipe??

Airmar recommends either caster oil or propylene glycol. Neither will attack fiberglass
