In need of a 1969 evinrude 85hp electric lower unit!!!

And the drama continues... my mechanic showed me a nice cut in the housing of the lower unit with what appears to be rust leaking out. UGH. I have NO clue how that happened but now I need a part that is almost impossible to find and I don't have the $$$ to sink a bundle into it. Sad thing is the motor and boat is perfect... Compression on motor could not be any better and this little part is going to cause this great beautiful boat to be beached!!! Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a lower unit??? And what year model lower units would work (does it have to be a 69'). I am just heartbroken....

Contact tcoutboard.com and see what they have. There are other outboard wrecking yards, too.<br /><br />Also, parts like this come up on eBay from time to time. You can set up a search that will email you when something shows up.<br /><br />I can't answer the compatible years question.

I picked one up recently for the shift solenoids only. The splines on the drive shaft are twisted and it seams to be locked up. I've tried to pull the bearing carrier with out any success. Sooo I'm probably not much help to you but I'll try to get it apart again this weekend and see what parts are good and post back.
