OK so I have a 2002 Bass Tracker 175 that has a Mercury 40 on it. My issues is that at idle it only runs for a few minutes and dies out. Its like it runs through whats been primed by the primer bulb and thats it. However, it will run at speed with no issues at all, it's only when idling or low throttle that it dies out. Now I've had the pickup off and swapped the anti siphon valve as well as the fuel line from the tank to the primer bulb. The bulb and fuel line to the motor has also been replaced. The quick connect to the motor was replaced last year as well as the carb gone through. I've recently taken off the fuel filter and gone through it as well. Ive even tried cranking it and running it without the fuel cap to see if would stay running, still nothing.. As I'm priming it I can't see any leaks or hear any air. Not really sure what this could be, any help here would be appreciated!

Does it keep running if you operate the manual fuel pump at idle ?

It's not losing prime.

Most likely it's a stretched fuel pump diaphragm that can't pump enough fuel at idle, yet enough at higher speeds

OK so here we go. Replaced the whole fueling system now minus the carb and its still doing it! I'm at a loss on what this could be. I've even tried 2 different primer bulbs as well as 2 quick connects just in case one was bad.

Do you have the old grey Mercury fuel line running from your tank to the engine? if so, change it out. Ethanol in the fuel breaks that old stuff down from the inside. I chased the same problem for weeks until I changed mine out.
