in need of some Reinell info, please...

Hi.
Just inherited a 24' Reinell. Needs work like there's no tomorrow... inside, outside, engineside. Basically right now, I'd just like to know its year.
All I have to go on is the stamped numbers on the transom...RENA2988M77B-C2621. It has a Mercruiser 228 in it.
I'd really appreciate any help in deciphering these numbers.

2988=s.n.
m= made in march
77=1977 year
rest i am not sure of

Educated guess, sir, but the last digits on my 76s VIN is the model, i beleive c2621 is a model of boat, anyone else know differently?

on the inside of my 73 rv2230 it has a metal plate that lists model no.
does yours have anything inside like on the side
