For us, they're like Pollack(sp) jokes they have in other parts of the world. The main difference with Aggie jokes is that they are true stories.

I have a buddy who is the poster child for why they have Aggie jokes.

This fella keeps a cruiser on one of our area lakes, and has had several miss-adventures with it too, but one day he decided he'd bring his old 60's era 16 footer (that he bought new) up and keep it in the dock to 'run around in'.

Well,
Its a 66 Merc 80 on a 67 hull. The original '66 hull he got with it didn't make it past driving over a stump at speed and ripping the bottom out that first year, so he got a new boat and switched the engine over to the new hull after the sinking.

Anyway:

He thought he'd put a depth finder on it. But no way he was going to pay $50 for the Marina guys to install it.

After all, how hard can it be?
So, he looked at the screws for the sending unit, got a drill bit that size. Drilled the holes. The screws just fell into the holes.

AHH!! The hole needs to be smaller than the screw.... so he got a smaller bit, moved over and drilled 4 new holes. They fit perfect.

He got his sending unit on probably better than the boat mechanic guys could have done it, and didn't get screwed out of $50 bucks.

//////

Took the boat to the lake, pulled it into the dock, hopped out, tied it off, got on the 'big boat' and partyed down for the evening.

Next morning----

After sitting all night, those 4 -- 1/4" holes to Sea left the ski boat with the deck, and about 2 inches of the engine sticking out of the water.
