The below picture shows the tilt pump I have (the one on the left obviously is the one being used now;)
The manual talks about having the outdrive in the up position and blocked up and then open red fill valve on pump to fill etc. so the drive doesnt slip down shooting out all the fluid in my bilge?
How can I do this procedure while in the water? Should I try a way to hold the drive up in the water? Long and short is I have small leak from the line when tilting down..so my thought is leave the drive down(I don't really need to have it up.) and just keep fluid in it in case i need to have it up then down again..don't want to pull the boat out of the water as I just did for a new shift cable and this tilt issue wasn't an issue then..the yard will not be happy pulling it again..plus is this really that big of a deal for the next couple months?

You don't have to block the drive up, just tilt it all the way up. Then check the fluid level and top off if necessary.

will do, didn't know what was gonna happen when I opened the valve. and if the drive would drop down..is their a level reading on these style pumps? how do we know when full? Nothing in literature about that.

Thanks as always Don !
