Inboard or Outboard

I getting ready to buy my second boat first one is a bayliner with 85hp Force, Been a super boat.<br /><br />But living in Ca. I will soon need a four stroke and I would like to know which motor type offers the best bang for the buck and also the lowest maint.<br /><br />Thanks for any input.

I agree with Wes twice: Outboard uses less space, is lighter, is easier to repower, offers superior boat balance and control, and in the new EFI 4 strokes offers superior fuel economy and performance.<br /><br />Yamaha 115 EFI is the class of the field over 100hp. Suzuki EFIs are the class of the 40 to 90hp field. The Merc 115 EFI is a Yammy powerhead on a Merc lower end and is probably less expensive than the Yammy. Because of service and parts reputation, I would still go with the Yamaha. Carbureted 4 strokes would be less expensive than EFI, but EFI is worth every penny in performance and reliability.<br /><br />Have fun shopping.<br />JB

Thanks, I kinda knew I wanted to stay with the outboard format and now I have the info. to do so. And the info. on the Yammie is good to know along with the EFI info.
