Inboard shaft length

I have a 36' Mainship Nantucket and recently had the starboard shaft replaced. The person who replaced the shaft did a great job and also replaced the cutlass bearings. Upon final inspection of the job, I realized that the new shaft was about 3/4" longer than the old shaft. Subsequently, the prop is slightly further back and closer to the rudder than previously. I informed the mechanic of this and he did not believe it would have an affect on anything.

I have used the boat and there is no wobble on the shaft whatsoever. There did seem to be a vibration at the backend, but I did have growth on my shafts, props, and rudder.

Does anyone out there have an opinion on the shaft length?

Any feedback appreciated.

(What year & style?), ..... but, I don't think 3/4" on a Mainship shouldn't make any noticable difference.

Ned,

It is a 1988 36' Nantucket Sedan with twin 270 gasoline crusaders. It is supposed to reach a top speed of 24kts although I never have.
