I've got a 31' Wellcraft with twin MerCruiser FWC 7.4 340's. The port motor stays at 145-150 all the time. The starboard motor runs 150-160 at 1800 RPM, but at idle it gets up to 175. At 3000+ it steadily gets hotter and hotter (up to 190) before I slowed down to 1800. Then it came back to 160 again. The impeller is new on that side. Any ideas?

The risers are new-

Figured it was a water flow issue (clog) somewhere...any way to eliminate some of the options or just start pullin' parts and cleaning?

After checking some old notes, I did have one with a hi-speed overheat only. turned out the therm housing was clogged internally, but it was raw water cooled. The bits of trashed impellers have been known to clog things up some. trans or power steering coolers are prime suspects.

I'll start there then. Thanks for the direction, I'll follow up once I get started.

could the sea strainer be clogged too? I didn't even look at that possibility...
