I,M GOING TO PURCHASE A 18 TO 20 FT SPORT BOAT TO BE USED FOR SKIING AND JUST CRUISING MAINLY. I LIKE THE LOOKS OF THE INBOARDS BETTER AND THAT THEY ARE QUIETER BUT SERVICE AND DEPENDABILITY WILL MAKE THE DECISION. I WOULD LIKE SOME FEED BACK ON WHICH IS THE BEST CHOICE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

MSA,

Inboard (direct drives) are very reliable and simple. Nothinbg gives a better pull than an inboard dedicated ski boat.

Re: INBOARD VS. 4 STROKE OUTBOARD

I have owned a 19' Ski Centurion 351 inboard and had nothing but problems with props, rudders etc. didn't care for it at all, still own a 1974 John Allmand 23' Ticonderoga 302 C.I. I/O, and a 1989 Bayliner 23' Trophy with twin Force 125s. Ski Centurion spent more time in shop than on water, Allmand sprung a fuel leak and exploded sending me overboard, no consequential damage to boat except split flooring from blast,Glad my 4 year old daughter wasn't aboard. My opinion is that the outboard is the most reliable, safest and economical of all. That's just this guys opinion.
