I purchased a 16-17' fiberglass boat used closed cowl (No motor or trailer which I have since acquired both) which had a doral name in the centre of the steering wheel which initially led me to believe that it was a doral boat. No other indentifying marks HIN/cpapcity plate is observed either on the transom or anywhere to be seen.
I'll have to forward a picture for someone else to posssibly assist in indentifying boat.
I'm hopin that the motor I have acquired is a 69 Johnson 85 HP V4 which I'm also attempting to get running.
This motor has apparently around 100lbs of compression so I'm thinkin it still has a little life left in it with some TLC.
I also hope it'll push this boat along failry well so I can enjoy it to full potential.
Eventually I plan on gettin a I/O later.
I'm tryin to acquire as much knowledge in this V4 as I can and their anomolies so I can keep it runnin as best as I can.
Currently I did get it to fire and run for a few minutes and haven't had more than a few kicks when the starter shaft somehow got bent when the motor kicked while attempting to start it. Had to obtain a rebuilt one and haven't had much success since.
That was last year.
Gonna give it another go around this year and hopefully I have some better luck in gettin it runnin.
Maybe some of you more experienced mariners have some advice to offer?
Thx.
