I want to replace the spark plugs in my 2005 200 HP Yamaha engines. I have heard something about indexing the spark plugs. Does that apply to these engines? Also does anybody know how to gap the new type plugs. They have two prongs coming in to the center electrode. Thanks.

Re: indexing spark plugs

Post this in the Yamaha Outboard Repair thread and you'll more likely get some responses.

Re: indexing spark plugs

no indexing on the yamaha motors. install them with the correct gap at the correct torque and its a done deal

Re: indexing spark plugs

with a plug gapping gauge<br /> the type of plug will determine the correct method.

Re: indexing spark plugs

You must have the HPDI and are talking about the plugs with the two tangs and not the conventional plug. They are gap'ed to the side between each tang and the electrode.
