Re: Indmar Vortec Intake Manifold ok for MerCruiser application?
Hey Bondo,
Thanks yet again for your answer to another thread of mine to help me out.
I think it's time for me to run out into the garage to study my original 2 barrel intake manifold. See where all the tapped holes are, and stuff like that to see what the differences are there on that aspect of the swap-over..
BUT...
Here are a couple of pictures showing the differences between "Indmar" and "MerCruiser" 4 barrel intake manifolds. Both are for Vortec.. Please take a real close look up front on the manifolds..
Indmar:

MerCruiser:

Notice how the Indmar one has two tapped bosses sticking out horizontally right in the front? Also notice how the Indmar one has it's thermostat opening located really up forward past the first intake manifold to cylinder head bolt? Comparing with the MerCruiser one where the thermostat housing bolts line up with the second intake to head bolt back from the first one in the front.
What do you think of the differences I caught while studying the pictures? Wouldn't the Indmar one interfere with anything espically the thermostat housing location differences between both manifolds?
Thanks, Norm
