Infant Life jacket recomendations for 2month old?

I am trying to find a infant life jacket that will fit my 2 month old almost 3 months. I have heard really good reviews about the mustang lil legends infant life vest but it is priced pretty high, if there is one similar to it with same features I would rather go that route.

i'd ignore these last two responses. be smart about it and your kid will be just fine on the boat at 2 months. also, i can't stand when people make a comment like "$50 is too much to spend on your kid's safety?!" My thought is, if we can do it safely for less, why not?

it's 25 at walmart and can be had on ebay for 20 shipped. my 1 month old (9lbs) will fit in it in a few weeks most likely. the back is essentially a piece of fabric that gives great support.

The best ones for very small kids are 'sling' types, like the Stearns one that possum recommended. They fit snug and still let you put the child in a car seat to rest. Don't buckle them in the car seat while on the boat. You can let it sink and just have the baby float if the world ends.
Little kids are great in the boat. They just go to sleep when you are running. Make very sure they are well covered from the sun, and bugs if that is an issue.

Nothing wrong with trying to save money, but I wouldn't have put my 3 month old child in any life preserver that hadn't been tested/retested/ then tested again.


Not to mention the fact that the OP is only likely to save $10-20 bucks on a cheaper alternative anyway.....it's not like we're talking about saving hundreds of dollars.

If this was about finder a cheaper PFD for a the OP....my answer would've been different. Adults can choose whatever they want for themselves.

I insist that my son(who just turned 15) use a PDF that has a strap that goes between his legs when we go tubing. I'm afraid his life jacket will slide off when he wipes out. Parents are supposed to be overly cautious IMO.

If I was completely honest...I would've just said "get a babysitter", no need to have a 3 month old out on the water. They are too young to know what's going on anyway.

Some people(like myself) have camps that are only accessable by water/air.We boated when the kids were infants just be sure to use a certified PFD and boat when the weathers not to crazy.

We have a 24ft lowe with a mercury 115 and bimini top as far as shade we are also located on a calm lake. I dont plan on taking him out for another couple weeks/ months or when momma says we can so no worrys guys! I was just looking for a good priced life jacket that was as good as the ones listed for 50 bucks. I have heard that finding a life jacket for an infant is hard.

My boy didn't actually become really enjoyable to go out with until he was 6 or 7. That's when he became somewhat self-sufficient in the fishing dept and I wasn't always in fear for my life from the fishing hooks.
We just did short trips when he was little. A few hours in the morning and he was done.

I did a 10 hour fishing stint the other day(by myself), my son would've killed me if I took him out that long!
