I just purchased a 11.5' Xtreme Cat and was wondering what size outboard to use.<br />It is rated uo to 25HP. The Boat is a tunnel type inflatable. I am trying to decide between an 18hp or 25hp tohatsu. any comments would be appreciated.

If carrying the engine is a consideration, personally I find the 115lbs of the 18hp to be just at the end of practical limits. At 150lbs for the 25hp, I would want it permanently attached.

The Tohatsu 2-stroke 25 HP at 101 lbs is your best bet.

That would be nice but I live in California and 2 strokes are not allowed.

You are screwed, sort of. You could buy one from a dealer out of state and pick it up just over the state line. People do that all the time.
