I had heard you could turn a 35hp into a 50 or 55hp by doing something to the carb.
Is this true?
How do you do it?

Thanks for any info......

Chrysler 35hp
Model #3551

Let's see, the displacement of a 35 hp motor is 35.90 ci. The displacement of the 55 is 44.70 ci. I think they both use the Tillotson WB carb. So, just bore and stroke it, change the pistons and connecting rods and probably change the head and head cover and you should be OK. Oh yes, you may need to change the crankshaft also.

see I was told that the 35 and the 55 are the same.(SIZE) Its the carb thats different and by modding the 35hp carb you can get 55hp out of it.

The lower units are the same. The carbs are the same on some 35s and 55s. The motor is different.
