I recently purchased a 2005 90hp ELPTOSW Mercury outboard. The "SW" in the ID numbers means saltwater series. The salesman that sold me the boat, told me there is no difference in this motor versus an ordinary ELPTO, except mine has blue lettering on the cowl instead of red lettering. I have since been told there is a difference, such as more corrosion protection.<br />I didn't get an owners manual since this was a used boat purchase. Anyone know anything about this? I would appreciate any help on this.
<br /><br />The salesman is probably right. It often costs more to have two slightly different models than to make them all deluxe. It's more of a marketing thing than physical.
