info on Evinrude

I just found an Evinrude 55 outboard. The model number on the mounting plate was 50373 R and the serial is E0006690. Can anybody tell me anything about this engine. I think it is a short shaft but I'm not sure. It was mounted on 20 inch transum and the cav plated was in line with the bottom of the boat. Is this a 50 hp or 55? any idea what year. Thanks

I can tell you that it's a 1973 50 HP Model. If it was on a 20 inch transom and the plate was even with the bottom of the boat, then it's a long shaft(20")..
